CargoX announces setting up a scholarship fund for students of maritime studies at the ICTS 2018

(Portorož, 15 June 2018) - CargoX is proud to announce the founding of a scholarship fund, intended for students at the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport of the University of Ljubljana. We confirmed this collaboration at the International Conference of Transport Science, held in Portorož, Slovenia, on 14 and 15 June 2018, where we also presented our blockchain-based Smart B/L solution.
The international conference provided experts from the field of transport science with a rich programme, divided into the following sections: Ports planning and ports operation; New technologies in the maritime industry; Road transport and traffic safety; Science in maritime transport; Intermodal transport and logistics; Urban transport; Marine environment; Transport systems; Air transport; Safety of maritime transport; Terminology, technology and human resources in transport, and The environmental aspect of transport.
The conference was organized and hosted by the Slovene Association of Transport Sciences, The Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport of the University of Ljubljana, and Faculty of Maritime Studies of the University of Split.
“The CargoX Smart B/L solution was presented to all the visitors at the conference. But, for us, it was even more important to see how blockchain technology could contribute to the countless fields within maritime and transportation technologies as a whole. We are laser-focused on the Smart B/L, yet we have the know-how to take on any of the issues where global and indisputable data validity, ownership, and escrow services could be used to improve the entirety of the maritime and transportation ecosystem. We are also building strong connections with maritime academia and scholars in the field,” said Igor Jakomin, Ph.D., Chief Operations Officer of CargoX.
Igor Jakomin of CargoX and Prof. Elen Twrdy Ph.D., Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport, used this great conference opportunity to announce and confirm the scholarship fund, provided by CargoX to the students of the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport.
“The Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport has already collaborated with CargoX, and we are now upgrading our joint goal of bringing modern technologies to the logistics world. Bridging the gap between academia and industry is an important process that will have a meaningful impact for all parties involved. We are extremely proud to be able to offer our students access to such cutting-edge technologies as the CargoX Smart B/L. This way they can study one of the most transformative technologies in the market today,” said Prof. Elen Twrdy Ph.D. , Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies and Transport.
As Stefan Kukman, CEO and founder, recently emphasized, CargoX puts great value on education, and we like to highlight that modern digital knowledge is the most important factor in the optimization of transportation, logistics and supply chains. “The industry is ripe for an overhaul, at least when it comes to documentation, payment, and value-transfer processing. We know that students are looking for ways to approach and implement new technologies within this very traditional business. We want to help them achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals along the way. We feel it is our duty to give some of our knowledge and experience back to the academic world, and we are also proud that we can offer financial support to those students that strive the most.”
