CargoX, Abu Dhabi Customs and Shanghai E&P International sign MoU to develop digital trade corridor between China and UAE

December 3, 2025

(Abu Dhabi, UAE / Shanghai, CHINA / Ljubljana, SLOVENIA – 3rd December 2025) : CargoX, one of the leading providers of electronic trade documents, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Abu Dhabi Customs and Shanghai E&P International to develop a digital trade corridor that will create a seamless, secure and transparent cross-border trade ecosystem.

Digital trade corridors are platforms, systems and technologies designed to support international trade by improving the exchange of information and, as a result, the movement of goods. They connect businesses, governments, logistics providers, and other stakeholders across borders to streamline processes and make trade more efficient.

The partnership will connect Abu Dhabi’s position as a global logistics hub and Shanghai’s digital infrastructure with CargoX’s blockchain-enabled platform to enhance digital trade facilitation.

For seamless and secure trade, we need to digitise the industry. Cross-border trade ecosystems that include both public and private sector participants, from customs agencies to software providers, are critical to this goal. Combining Abu Dhabi’s role as a major logistics centre in the Middle East, Shanghai E&P International’s deep knowledge of developing software for the industry, and CargoX’s blockchain platform, will be a major step forward in creating a trusted digital trade corridor.

Vjeran Ortynski, VP of Business Development

The partnership is the latest development in the relationship between CargoX and Abu Dhabi Customs, with the latter already using the former’s technology as part of its TradeChain platform. CargoX is also one of the first providers of the United Arab Emirate’s Maritime Preload Cargo Information (MPCI) filing service, a secure and efficient way for parties to submit bill of lading data.

This collaboration marks a new milestone in digital trade innovation. Together, we’re building a connected corridor that enhances trust, efficiency, and interoperability across borders. Abu Dhabi continues to lead as a hub of smart trade and logistics excellence.

H.E Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs

Shanghai E&P International  believes its experience in building software solutions for digital logistics positions them to provide the technological infrastructure needed. Through this partnership,E&P will leverage its understanding to work with  CargoX and Abu Dhabi Customs in developing a digital trade corridor for shared benefits.

The MoU was signed during the China–UAE Economic and Trade Cooperation Promotion Conference at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) 2025, an event to strengthen investment and trade cooperation between the two countries.
